Under 6's representatives do themselves proud. Alex, Alfie, Iestyn, Lois, William, Oliver, Finley and Fraser represented the under 6's on the 2014 Mini/junior tour to Exeter.

After a sunny journey down to Dawlish Warren, near Exeter, the team were welcomed by the Under 6's & 7's coaching team. The team was certainly amused by the sight of Gav and Matt in drag joined by Robbo and James from the under 7's. Gav reminded me of the potter Grayson Perry whilst Matt looked like Les Dawson as Ada, luckily I didn't get any photos. Or did I?

Our first day's rugby was at Honiton. The under 6's were split into 2 teams and each joined the under 7's who took them under their wing and helped guide them through their closely fought matches. Oliver had some great tries and was busy chasing the opposition. Iestyn was quick on his feet and was pleased with his first ever try. Player of the day went to William for his great performance, closely fought by Fraser who had some great runs. Honniton RFC made KRFC very welcome and the teams particularly enjoyed their complimentary ice cream afterwards. We watched the older teams before returning back to camp for a swim in the pool or crabbing on the beach.

Saturday evening we were out in force in our Hawaiian shirts and headdresses, it was certainly a strange combination but a great sight to see.

Sunday morning's matches were at a very wet Paignton. It might have been a cold start but it was a warm welcome from Paignton RFC. The under 6's played as one team which was great to see. Unfortunately for us, but a great compliment to Lois' performance the previous day, she was poached by the under 7's. When he wasn't providing excellent support to his team mates Alex enjoyed fooling the opposition with his dummy passes. Paignton used the local steam train to their advantage to get through our line as each time it tooted our team turned in unison to watch it.Even though he had a ball to the face Alfie was not deterred and got stuck in wherever he could. Player of the day went to Finley for his try fest.

The trip was rounded off with tour court back at the camp joined by the under 7's. I won't go into details, it will spoil the surprise next year, but parents be afraid as next year you will not get off so lightly.

Thank you parents for bringing the children away and thanks to the under 7's for looking after us.

Finally I would like to thank Gav and Matt for all their hard work and the ability to make fools of themselves for the amusement of the children.

The only way we're going to make next year's tour better is to have a
bigger team. I can't wait. Who's with me?
