Under 7's at home to Olney

This week we were looking forward to welcoming Olney as we'd had such a fun time the last time we met. It was an early start as they were going to bring a large group. Thank you to the under 6's for lending us their pitch to enable us to accommodate them. It was a sunny day and everybody was itching to get going. With Olney's coaches getting stuck in with ours we were able to have 4 pitches with each team playing 3 games.
The last time we met, in January, the sides were pretty evenly matched; this time however we noticed how much Olney had developed. It did catch us off guard to start with, however, Kettering soon sorted their defensive line which was then difficult to breach. It was then end to end rugby with Kettering showing some great passing and having some dynamic runs.
At the end the children were tired but smiling. They did however find one last ounce of energy for our favourite game, sharks and fishes. The coaches are now finding it harder to tag the children. It could be their age but I think it's more likely the developing fitness of the children. It has been suggested that the parents take a turn as sharks one week, while we're still able to keep up with them. The children welcomed the treats provided by birthday boy Alex. Olney also kindly gave our team a box of chocolates which Gav promptly ran off with. The children were hot on his heels.

Chocolates and great rugby, Olney can definitely come again.
