Kettering Under 8s vs Long Buckby (Home)

The sun shone, the wind stopped and the rain held off for a glorious morning to play and watch rugby.

A scheduled home fixture against Long Buckby on the Astro Turf was eventually played on the Tresham playing fields after some access control issues at the outset of the morning. After some re-arranging the Kettering squad warmed up and readied themselves for a morning of many games, made possible by the large squad of players that arrived with Long Buckby.

There was a mixture of scores and teams across all games played some terrific rugby. There are still things to work on but generally the play was excellent. Kettering supported the ball player in attack and made good effort with trying to run from depth and with pace. Defensively, Kettering worked hard and if gaps appeared ran tirelessly to chase down their opposition.

At the end of play the after-match hot dogs had to travel nearly as far as the visiting team but they were well earned after a hard morning’s work.
