On a bright and breezy Sunday morning the 13 players that were lucky enough to play in the Kettering festival arrived pumped up and ready to play the first festival with contact.
With convincing wins against Stoneygate and Melton Mowbray the final group game was a decider on who topped the group. Once again all the boys were fearless in the tackling , but this week passing and footwork were used to dodge the opponents tackles and earn the tries.
The hard fought match against Wellingborough resulted on a draw so it was down to the counting of tries scored to decide the semi-finals between Kettering , Towcester , Wellingborough and Stamford.
Our Semi final was against Stamford and the boys were very unlucky to to loose by just 1 try against a team that went on to win the U9's tournament.
Is is hard to pick out individuals for a special mention as everyone played together exceptionally well as a team displaying the core rugby values : TEAMWORK , RESPECT , ENJOYMENT , DISCIPLINE, SPORTSMANSHIP.
Finally thank you to all the parents, friends and grandparents who were there to support the team.
Next week gives us more excitement with the Saints festival on Saturday where we can take 2 team so everyone should get a game followed by training on Sunday.
