Kettering took 19 players to Milton Keynes and following a good aggressive warm-up when coaches and dad's were frequently driven backwards by the boys, the squad was split into two teams - 'Blues and Whites' as normal.
The 'Whites' were first up against Milton Keynes and despite taking the lead early on through a Rory Ward try they found themselves 2-1 down as they entered the last phase of play where, for the first time, they rucked collectively to deliver quick ball and release Matthew Tilley to run half the length of the pitch and level the scores in the corner. Final score 2-2.
Following a 10 minute 'Blues' v 'Whites' training game to allow the Milton Keynes players to take a break, the 'Blues' lined up against MK in their match.
Playing up the slope in the first half Kettering were pinned on their own try line for the majority of the period and only through some terrific ripping and tackling did they reach half time with only a one try deficit. The second half was a different story however with Kettering dominating the play and scoring 3 tries, all finished off by Ben York. Final score 3-1
All in all a very enjoyable morning. Special mention for man of the match performances by Alistair Coleman and MacKenzie Colson and well done to James Day who only joined last week and was playing in his first ever match.
