Our touring side of 16 players arrived at Eastbourne on the Saturday morning raring to go after the long journey & late Friday night in the arcade. We were made very welcome by a friendly bunch at Eastbourne with them even laying on a Ref for the games.
Eastbourne faced our two mixed ability teams. Whilst we were no match for their eggcellent work in the ruck we dominated in all other areas of the game. The KRFC teams played with pride & passion and proved that their parents commitment to going on tour was well worth it. I won't be naming any players as every single person upped their game and gave fantastic performances against the opposition. We couldn't ask for more. The results speak for themselves.
Saturday evening saw the fancy dress night taken up by all tourists & much socialising was accomplished into Sunday morning.
The sad news that all games were off on Sunday due to water logged pitches was obviously a huge disappointment to everyone. We still had the easter egg hunt / KRFC's got talent & the tour court which hopefully ended the tour on a happy note.
A huge thank you to the parents for making the financial & time commitment to going on tour. I hope you will agree that although we didn't get to play much rugby the children got to play freely with their friends & make memories & friendships that will last for years to come. The parents & coaches all get to know one another better making us into tighter group.
Lastly as the self appointed DOR Nick said in court these events don't just happen. The whole of KRFC is run on a voluntary basis with everyone giving their free time up. A huge thank you to the Andersons who found a caravan park to house us all & clubs to play against. Now to have a rest!
