On a glorious winters morning 20 players made the journey north to Stamford. What better way to celebrate mothers day than by standing in a muddy field with a chilling wind embracing your extremities!
DOR Nick & motivational coach Phil Jeffs led one side while Simon & Stewart took the other team. Players today were equally split in ability & experience. This made for a great mornings Rugby for all.
Stamford are always a great challenge as they have a huge pool of players to choose from. Well coached they ware an equal match for KRFC.
Nick & Phil's team had great results today with some outstanding performances. Great to hear that some of the newer players really stepped up against some strong opposition. William who was the newest recruit with excellent direct running. Ashton,Clarke & Carter slotting in with the old guard playing beyond their experience. Ella battling in defence & putting in a tremendous work rate which rewarded her with a try in the last match. They don't always get a mention but the original members of squad Freddie, Christian, Fraser & Max playing their hearts out for their club.
Simon & Stewart team had a rougher ride. The first match was against a very well organised & fast Stamford team. After a half time reflection the players came back with a gutsy second half. We really showed what we could do in game two with a domineering performance & great result. Game three was all Kettering's until two interception tries stole the game at the end. This was not a real reflection on how well the guys played. Our newest recruits Iowan & Ezra played with real passion while the usual suspects left nothing out on the pitch. Toby with great runs leading to tries, Toku charging down the pitch like Godzilla in down town Tokyo, Alex, Shea & Thomas ruling the break down & ruck, Oran, Ben & Harry doing all the dirty work in the middle.
Big up to Ben who took a knock to the nose. Blood was spilt today, I don't think this will be forgotten in our next meeting.
Extra special mention to Nick, Phil & Stewart who represented KRFC under 10's at the ball last night & still managed to get to the game on time & look as fresh as daisy's.
Well done all be proud you were brilliant!
