Windswept Waverley Road hosts wonderful Festival

Kettering U10s fixture this Sunday was competing in the 20th annual Kettering mini/junior festival.
The Festival was well attended by many clubs from in and around the local area. Kettering U10s split into two teams and played in each of the two leagues allocated to the U10 age group. The Kettering White team in League A (looked after by Tim and James) played against Old Northamptonians, Towcester and Hinckley. The Kettering Blue Team (looked after by Tudor and Chris) played against Stoneygate, Stamford and Melton Mowbray.
There was a mix of results for the two teams, the team in League A had a tight game against Hinckley and narrowly lost, but went on to win against the other two teams in their pool. The Blue team in League B had some tough games against their opposition and missed out on going through to the semi-final. Kettering Whites succeeded in winning their semi-final spot against Melton Mowbray and went on to play in a final against Hinckley.
The final was a particularly tough affair with Kettering Whites losing out on the prized Kettering festival winners title. Hinckley proved to be a robust and assertive opponent that worked very well around the break down area and were deserved overall U10 festival winners.
Although disappointed the Kettering teams should be very pleased with their performances this Sunday. They gave there all and stood together during times of real adversity. This is only the third week of playing games and we are showing tangible progression.
This year’s festival was a real crowd pleaser and enjoyed by everyone; players, coaches and spectators. Special thank you to club volunteers who organised, helped and executed a well-planned event. There are a lot of people who make this kind of event successful that go unnoticed but deserve recognition.
We are, as usual, training on Wednesday evening and training again on Sunday next week, see you all there….
