This week a word from coach James Duffin:
Well done to the team for displaying great rugby today. Kettering played the better rugby but were unfortunate with a few decisions.
We have shown a few new clubs how good we are. The style of rugby they played today is exactly what Steve and Bob have been coaching - we passed and moved the ball wide, the boys were quicker and more aggressive at the ruck and the tackling was relentless.
Callum - as captain he lead from the front and was powerful in his running and driving forward - if it wasn’t for an illegal barge by Market Rasen then he would have scored and things would be very different.
Luca - as always, he was reliable with his accurate tackling and passing.
Conner - he ran straight, drew in players and offloaded the ball - just the passing game we want to see.
Fabian - great determination with his tackles and super running - he always made ground.
Thomas - tackled, tackled and tackled, no one was going to get past him today.
Tommy - ran straight, took the ball in to the tackle and always set it up nicely for his team mates.
Rory - ever reliable, was always there to cover the defence and pick up the ball when it was spilled - he covered a lot of ground today.
Billy - ran at the opposition and passed the ball, after a nice cut under his eye and a small break he came back and carried on as if nothing had happened.
Kasey - great heads up strong running, some excellent tackles and really strong rucking often blowing the opposition off the ball and gaining us possession.
Next year when the pitches get bigger our stye of rugby will pay dividends.
Thank you to all the parents for your support today, please pass on my congratulations to the boys and thank them for doing Kettering proud.
