A rather exhausted Under 10's team still beat off the competition to take a well earned second place to The Old Northamptonians.

On a cold damp Sunday morning the Under 10's huddle together underneath the gazebo ahead of another tournament. Spirits are high after winning the Saints tournament the day before even if the temperature is not.

The first match was against Bugbrooke Badgers who were very competitive and fought bravely throughout the match. However, the Blues shone through the bleak weather and aggressive Badger tactics to win the match 3-1.

The second match was also won by Kettering 3-0 against Brackley. Brackley put in a sterling effort and pushed hard against Kettering but couldn't find a way through. Kettering moved the ball around well and defended even better. A very deserving win, well done Blues!

Then there was the third round match against S+L which again was won by Kettering 6-1. The very aggressive S+L side was held off at every opportunity with the Blues turning over the ball and driving hard to take the win. Well done boys keep up the good work.

Match 4 was against the Casuals which saw Kettering win 5-1. Casuals again put in a very brave performance but by this time a confident Kettering side enjoyed driving through the Casual's defense. This was particularly evident by Robson Dabb's pose for the camera before planting the ball down for a try. Very entertaining, Well done!

Then came the final against the ON's...

Unfortunately, the by now exhausted Kettering side were facing particularly tough opposition. The ON's looked as fresh as when they started and dominated possession throughout the first half. Kettering's defense held up well and at half time the score was 1-1. The coaches talk at half time definitely made the Kettering side perk up and they pushed hard at ON's try line. The only reason that they didn't score was because the opposition managed to pick our player up in the air and push the ball over dead ball line. Then the ON's flew past everyone and secured the win. A very tough match for both teams and some excellent rugby played on both sides. Well done to both teams, it was very entertaining for everyone who saw it.

The boys were very proud to hold the second place trophy aloft as were the parents who watched them. Well done boys, we are all very proud of you. Keep up the good work!!!
