A forwards game with no long passing was the order to the day (remember that for later). Our referee was sadly incapacitated, but got a lift, and was able to continue his duties, albeit from the touchline..... throughout.... loudly!
All three games were characterised by some excellent support play, some not-so-excellent handling in the wind, and some experimental positional coaching decisions! A particular high note was the experimental front row of Luke Harley, Matthew Tilley and Hubert Jones - the element of surprise was evident! Credit must also go to Hubert Jones and Zac Byers, both in a rare outings on the wing, crashing over at the end of well-worked moves, and for the tenacity of both James Anderson and Kean McCabe for some great persistence at the breakdown .
Proving that the coaches were making too much of the windy conditions, Ben York drifted (well flung actually) a looping 15 yard pass, which was in the air for long enough for us all to hear exactly what his father thought of it, only for Alister Coleman to pick it up off his bootlaces, at full pace, to go over for an excellent try.
So, 3 matches, 3 wins. Overall, the Blues ran in 18 tries without reply. All credit to Dunstable, on the back of an 8-0 and a 7-0 they turned down the invite for a mixed match and opted to stick at it as a team to play a third game.
For the record, scorers were (I think!) : Kean (2), Ali (2), Sam (3), Zac (2), Ben (3),Hubert (2), Dom, Matt, Rory, James.
And the man of the match, all 13 of them !!!
