Convincing Wins for the Under 10s.

After what seemed like the longest journey to an away fixture ever, Kettering Under 10s produced two fantastic performances against local side Ivel Barbarians to start their Easter Tour eggstravaganza!

By sweeping aside their rivals in magnificent style during the two matches, both the Blues and the Whites showed that they were clearly unaffected by the lack of match preparedness over the previous weeks. In fact all those snowball fights that had taken place during that time seemed to have had a dramatic impact with their side-stepping and passing skills showing great improvement!

Having developed their positional play and breakdown skills during the extra training sessions, Kettering showed a number of quality plays during both matches. The forwards worked together as a single unit and regularly won the ball in the breakdown from an Ivel Barbarians front row that was keen but inaffective. In support the backs kept their line discipline and used both individual skills and consistent passing moves to drive through the opposing back line, scoring tries all over the pitch. Of particular note were Zac Byers and Ben York, who scored 9 tries between them, with other try scorers - Matthew Tilley, Evan Downhill, Rory Ward, Stanley Kirk and James Anderson - adding to the total. In fact so many tries were scored by the boys (final scores 8-0 and 8-1) that the coaches ended up struggling to remember who scored what - apologies to any try scorers not mentioned here!

All in all the boys showed that when they play at their best they are a force to be reckoned with and can use the skills learned on the training pitch to devastating effect.
