Following cancellation of the Mobbs tournament the Under 10s were lucky to get some valuable gametime on Sunday against 2 teams from Harborough and one from ONs

Kettering were able to enjoy a competitive morning of rugby at Market Harborough with the opposition coming in the form of two home sides and a visiting ONs development team.

Picking from a squad of 21 players Kettering split into two evenly balanced teams of 'Blues' and 'Whites'.

The Whites started with a wholehearted display against Harborough A and whilst most of the game was played in their own half the Whites performed heroically to hold out for a hard earned 0-0 draw

The Blues opened their campaign against the ONs development team and played some fabulous running rugby with the ball being passed down the line to secure a 6-0 victory. Stunned coaches were heard to mutter "wow - they actually did what we've been asking them to do in training!!"

The Whites followed up from their earlier effort by playing Harborough B and again gave a very good account of themselves but ran out 3-1 losers. This was despite Hubert Jones and Zac Byers combining beautifully for a 'forwards try' smuggling the ball off the back of a rolling maul and diving over the line.

The Blues followed up their earlier success with a much tougher test against the Harborough A which was again extremely close, the result being decided by a single breakaway try which was superbly crafted by the Harborough 'speedster' who ran from behind his own try line to run the length of the pitch and score early in the first half. Their final match was a similar story with the result going to Harborough B despite a good all round performance from our boys which again never quite met the heights of their opening match.

The Whites final match was against ONs and they continued to grow in confidence and produced their best performance of the day to run out 9-1 winners. Six players were amongst the try scores, including a debut try for Joel Woolley much to the delight of his father who was later awarded the award for best individual parental celebration.

Man of the match for Blues was Gabriel Chaine and for Whites was a James Anderson
