Under 10s played host to new visitors to Waverley Road in 'Mens Own' on 21st October and both teams served up a competitive morning with some good rugby on display.
The first match was very much a tale of two halves with Kettering Blues dominating the initial exchanges and deservedly taking a first half lead through tries from Zac Byers and Aidan Jones. However the second half was a different story with Mens Own finding their feet which, combined with some sloppy play by Kettering, allowed the visitors to sneak the win 3-2.
The second match saw Kettering Whites take on Mens Own keen to seek revenge for the earlier defeat. The Whites put together a much more consistent display than the Blues and deservedly took the match 3-0 with tries from Jay Hammond , Ben York and finally for 'birthday boy' Mackenzie Colson who touched down in the corner.
With honours even, a deciding fixture was the order of the day. This was an extremely close affair which could have gone either way but was decided in the final play of the day as Matthew Tilley was released to cross the line from short distance and to seal the hard fought victory.
Well done guys - heads could have easily dropped after losing a 2-0 lead but you kept playing and came through in the end.
