Kettering started brightly with what looked to be the perfect try from Theo, he'd broken through and over the line and was making his way to place the ball under the posts, only to have the try cancelled as it was deemed he had dropped it when placing the ball down one handed.
From there the game went back and forth with both sides getting close to scoring. It was the home side that had the edge though and they managed to break the Kettering line twice before the home team started to dominate.
Over time the game went away from Kettering and the home side ran in a series of unanswered tries.
With no subs and two injuries taking players from the pitch, Kettering borrowed players to help them see out the game with 15 on the pitch. A big thanks to Pinley for lending us players.
Areas to work on included rucking, support play and tackling. The lads also need some time to train and play together, they've had little time together over the last few months and this showed.
On a positive front, there were some strong individual performances in the forwards Will, Tobias, Leon and Austin played very well. Great support play from Austin and great carries from the other three.
In the backs Theo continued to show what promise he has with power and pace and Cade demonstrated that despite his small size he is very brave and can tackle boys twice his size. Aaron also had a solid performance from 9.
So it was a frustrating loss, but the boys remained positive though out. Credit to them for that and a pat on the back for those that shone today. We had players playing in new positions, a new player and they still played with spirit.
Plenty to work on bit plenty to be proud of too.
