The Blue u14s venture into Warwickshire to face Pinley for the first time. Pinley as a development team, allowed Kettering the opportunity to field all our new players and try out some others in different positions.

The Kettering boys started well with a strong charge by the forwards which was rewarded with try by Joe Gowen. Tom Lane with his first ever attempt at a conversion slotted it home to put Kettering on the front foot at 0-7. Tom Lane followed this with a strong run from the returning kick-off to add try number 2 which he promptly converted. 0-14 Kettering.

The Blues growing in confidence then shipped the ball down the line and Austin Jackson went for the corner to take the score to 0-19, with the conversion by Tom Lane, 0-21.

Whilst Pinley made every effort to repel the Blues attack, the Kettering boys kept their shape far better which allowed Cale Clements to split the home sides back line and extend the score to 0-28 with another fine conversion by Tom Lane. Further tries from James Waite and new players Theo Boreham and Elliot Eghan plus a conversion by Aaron Cole gave Kettering a commanding lead of 0-52.

Pinley however finally got a reward for all their resilience and hard work with a great try under the posts, followed by a successful conversion. Final score 7-52.

The Blues played some good rugby, kept their shape and stayed organised with reaped benefits on the day. New players Theo and Elliot took their chances and shined, whilst others stepped up a level. Well done to Tom Lane, TXM Recruit Player of the week for an outstanding mornings play out of position at 10 including a string of conversions.
