We started the morning watching the previous weeks game on the telly! A very useful exercise for coaches and players a like.
St Neots turned up and though they only had 15 we looked at the size of some of their lads and thought “oh eck”.
We started the game brightly and our pack looked surprisingly comfortable against what seemed a larger unit. Set piece play was very good and we more than held our own. In open play we also started to play some great rugby, at times getting the ball out wide and making telling passes to score tries. We also did to St Neots what other teams have been doing to us, defending really well, turning over possession and scoring from within our 22.
Even after half time when we made wholesale changes and gave all the squad at least a half we continued to play the same way dominating and all aspects of the game at times were very good. We still need to execute the overlap a bit better but overall it was a very good performance.
Some game highlights for me were Daniel Antonio's amazing try saving tackle in our 22, we then turned over the ball and scored from it. Some great charging runs from Tom Abbott. Great torment of their number 10,12 and 13 by Hayes McMahon, Chris (Frank) Lampard and Tareeq Manji's direct running, the whole pack for making a rare try for Chris Giles (prop) and seeing Matthew English (prop) playing at 8!
Overall score Kettering 44-7 St.Neots. 8 tries two conversions.
It was a great morale booster confidence is high next up is league leaders Olney away (oh Eck!!!!) Not a problem hopefully they will under estimate us!
