Andy Swinburne : Match Report
We went to Wellingborough on the back of a great result but knew the opposition in the back line would be a much bigger challenge. Last season we went down by 50 points against Wellingborough but we are much more improved this season.
We started well but lost fly-half Tareeq Manji early on with a foot injury which upset our rhythm in the back line. Our forwards were competing really well and were on top all game in the scrum and our rucking and mauling were on a level par. We ended the first half disappointed by a 17-0 score line they had three chances and took them.
Second half we dominated and and had several held up efforts on the Wellingborough line and our pack again dominating not loosing our own scrum but winning plenty against the head. The only thing we didn’t do today was score and with only 18 players and two out with injuries we tired and playing against a squad of 25 we conceded 1 more try and lost 22-0 but the score line didn’t reflect our effort and forward dominance at times.
Men of the match Matthew Blount and Cade Greenwood.
Next Sunday 28th October 2012 there is no training or match but we are training this and next Wednesday the 24th and 31st as normal.
