Luton Away.
It was good to keep a record of attending all our competitive games with a full squad of 22 at Luton. We arrived with great optimism knowing we could get a great result. In the first half we looked good in the forwards but the backs seemed unusually quiet and lost a bit of shape and in the first 10 minutes, we un-characteristically failed to defend a break down, and we were soon 12 points down. We pulled a try back through dogged forward play with Chris Giles going over. Then we had two odd decisions given against us that lead to another two tries. The half time score was 26-5.
In the second half, you would have thought a side trailing by that would have given up, but not this team. They took the game to Luton and scored the next try with some good forward play. We thought then we were back in it as we were dominating play. Straight form the kick off Matthew Blount caught the ball and ran it back cutting through the Luton defence and went over with a Luton player on top of him and it was given held up! Our luck did not change and neither did the debatable decisions! Tareeq Manji puts the ball down and it is classed as dropped, even the Luton coach did not understand the decision. The final score was 26-10 but again did not represent the performance in the second half. The boys did not give up and on another day would have got a result. It seems to be a story of our season so far that we have lost another game we should have won. Keep working hard.
