We travelled to Wellingborough with great expectations feeling we realistically could beat them this year. We started very well, pushing them back, especially in the forwards, dominating the rucks mauls and set plays and we were eventually rewarded with a try from one of the many penalties Wellingborough were giving away. Try Matthew English, converted by Sam Zeller. We went into the half time break 7-0 up. We knew Wellingborough would come back and we seemed to lose our intensity in the second half. There where to many disruptions in our play. Wellingborough scored two tries which on another day, one might not have been given, but the match ended 12-7 to Wellingborough.
Over the last two seasons we have lost 40-0 and 22-5 so to get so close has been a great achievement by all the players. They showed great attitude and discipline even when provoked. All the players did themselves, their parents, the coaches and club proud.
