Kettering U15s finish off in style by progressing to the Cup Final of the UR7s.com premier tournament at Basingstoke where 20x U15s teams from throughout the UK competed for Bowl, Plate and Cup honors.
Having remained unbeaten in the pool stages against Huntingdon, Farnborough & Matson A (Gloucester), Kettering where seeded 3rd and Hayle (Cornwall) seeded 6th awaited in the Qtr Finals. A good victory set us up back against Huntingdon in the Semi-Final who put in the performance of the day in their Qtr Final beating West Cliff (Essex) who had been seeded 2nd after sweeping all before them with huge scores in their pool games.
A tense semi-final but Kettering took the lead and held on despite a spirited fight back from Stags.
Guildford (Seeded 1st) were our final opponents. A class side who had only conceded 2 tries all day and had pace, size and structure in abundance. Guildford where quick to take a 2 try lead utilizing their pace but Kettering rallied and created a superb try in response. A further 2 from Guildford put the tournament honors out of the Blues reach but the Blues were not finished and again broke Guildford's resolute defense for a final score of 24-12.
A great finish off to the season after winning both the Kettering 7s and Syston 7s Cup for the 2nd year running.
However let's not forget our 15 man successes either, runners up at the Abergavenny U15s Tournament losing only one game against quality opposition from both Welsh and English teams.
But I've saved the best for last, East Midlands League 1 Champions, unbeaten against the top 4 other clubs in the region.
A total of 4 new cups for the Mini Junior trophy cabinet from this age groups most successful season ever. Well done all, it's been a joy not only for your achievements this season but also for the fun, camaraderie and team spirit which is a delight for all in this age group to be part of.
