It is a testimony to this team that we had a 10.00am kick off a 9.00am meet and we still had 22 players turn up for the Casuals game.
We started well and had several chances in the first 10 minutes as we dominated the forward play.
Hayes McMahon scored an early try which was well converted. Casuals had a very quick winger and he seemed their only answer to our forward dominance, the score went tit for tat and at half time we were 12-7 down.
We made some changes at half time to sure up defence, and enhanced our forward play, by making sure we drove over the ball and secured it. This helped in the scrum as we won all of our own put-ins and most of theirs against the head.
The score went to the wire with tries going over at regular intervals and with 5 minutes to go we were 24-21 down, but the forwards had the last say driving over and we converted to win 28-24.
For all the possession and territory we had, the score should not have been so close but it was a result the boys really deserved.
A couple of mentions ...
Oliver Bosworth's place kicking for all four conversions was a kicking master class even the kicks from the touch line were never in doubt.
Joseph Clarke returning to the Club played like he had never been away and Ewan Robinson and Sam Smith have recently joined us an put in great shifts.
We have had some games this year we deserved to win but did not, today we got a great result from some hard work well done boys!
