This week saw the U15’s competing in the first league game of the season. We knew that it was going to be a tough game and the boys were as prepared as they could be. We started off really well, defending and tackling brilliantly. Old Scouts had a very good strong centre who posed a few problems but the boys closed him down really well. There was a couple of missed tackles which enabled Old Scouts to break through and score a try. Kettering then encountered a couple of injuries and had to make some substitutions. AJ came on at centre and made a difference, causing disruption to the opposition. Kettering were able to put some moves together which enabled AJ to score a cracking try and Harry Luthayi converted. There was plenty of action up and down the pitch but Old Scouts managed to score just before half time.
Harry Luthayi had a brilliant game and was thoroughly outstanding in both defence and attack. Old Scouts scored a quick try against us, but Kettering came straight back at them with a fabulous run by Harry Luthayi outsmarting the opposition to score and convert. Unfortunately the referee had to retire due to injury (that’s the first time we have broken a ref) and a replacement then took over. A couple more injuries to key players unfortunately disrupted Ketterings game and Old Scouts scored the final try of the game.
It was a brilliant performance by all. A special mention must go to Alex Bindley, Archie Brown and Samuel Norsworthy for their relentless tackling. Also to Aaron Langley and Sammy Ismail for getting to the breakdowns. Man of the match went to Harry Luthayi.
