Kettering U16 V Oundle / S & L

Following a lot of effort behind the scenes this week by Paul Bowman & Nick Dalziel to get us a fixture we had the pleasure of hosting Oundle & S & L. Two 35min halves, here's how it played out.
1st Half:
We kick off & Oundle go through a few phases, they look very strong up front.Will Homer is matching them physically & he is making great metres in return. Knock on & KRFC scrum, Archie picks off the back & makes a great break up the pitch. We have go forward, we win a penalty & opt to kick for the posts, ball just goes wide. Oundle kick out & ball goes into touch, great line out by KRFC, Archie whips the ball out to Tom Reynolds & he weaves his way through the defence at pace, he's under the posts for a try. Tom Herbert converts. Good positive play from the boys. Ball out again & another successful line out , ball out to Tom R again & he makes his up the pitch, ball to Joe who almost makes the line but he whips it out to Tom Herbert who scores on the wing, no conversion. Kettering giving away a couple of penalties, hands in the ruck & holding on, Oundle march forward. Our forwards are working superbly, Ewan Clee superb in the air at line outs again, Charlie Dix making huge meters on his running breaks & Sam Grant a general menace all round. Sam makes a break, pass to Dan Harrison & Sam loops around to take the ball again he's over for a try, a fantastic piece of skill from Sam, no conversion. Ball out now & Oundle line out, Kettering win the ball, out to Oran who skins the defence for a try, no conversion. Oundle kick out & we pass ball out to Tye Walker who turn on the gas down the wing to score, christian converts.
2nd Half:
Oundle start to put together some phases now & make their way up the pitch. Kettering win a penalty & kick to touch, Ewan again infallible in the air, Archie with a great ball out to Joe Wiggins who makes a break, off load to Oran who scores, Christian converts. We're off again & Charlie makes a superb 20m+ break, he's tackled but off load off the floor to Kian McGowan who eventually gets brought down. We continue to attack, ball out to Gethin Blackshaw on the wing, great offload to Oran & then to Cyrus Birch who scores, Christian converts. Oundle on the attack & start to give away penalties. We defend hard on our line & we win the ball back. Oundle attacking again, we hold them up & win a scrum, Oran makes a break down the line but he's smuggled out, Oundle line out. Oundle attack but Sam rips the ball out & breaks, he's draws two defenders & then offloads to Oran who sprints down the wing to score, Christian converts. Oundle starting to pick up a few injuries so we are loaning more players. Kettering giving penalties away again & Oundle start to take advantage of this, they break & score. Oundle penalty on the halfway line, Joe playing for Oundle breaks the line & scores, no conversion & thats the game here at Waverley Road.
A good squad performance today, we had great shape on the field, good comms & some great individual pieces of skill. Thank you to the boys who played for Oundle & made the game possible. Bryce, Tom Holford, Kian, Dan, Archie, Toby, Tom Herbert & Sam.
