That's sport Brian

First round of the cup & we get a tough draw against a very strong Old Scouts side.
Two halves of 35 mins, heres how it played out
First Half:
We are about 4 minutes in & Scouts are very fast & piling on the pressure, they get the ball out to their winger & he's over in the corner, try converted. We are struggling to cope with the pressure, we win a penalty but don't hit touch, the winger makes us pay by scoring, try converted. We make some good ground from the re-start, we put them under a bit of pressure, line out on their 10m but we are back in our own half now. We win a scrum but scouts get the ball out the back & pop over for a score, no conversion. We are struggling a little bit in the front row but we are competing, the boys are facing up well. We give a penalty away, not releasing. Ben clears our lines well to release a bit of pressure, line out ( not straight) scrum to scouts. We pressure well & scouts knock on. Scouts super fast at the tackle & ruck, we are getting pinged for holding on. Scouts line out on our 5M, they take the short throw but fumble it forward, scrum Kettering & we clear our lines from it. Scouts making a lot of mistakes, a few knock ons. The boys are facing up well now. Half time.
We talk about trying to slow the line out down & to try to get some good clean ball out.
Second Half:
The boys are making a game out of it now, we force the knock on's & Scouts give away a few penalties. Scouts go for the cross field kick & the winger catches it & is over for the try, scouts convert. Scouts turning the screw now & ball out to their winger who goes over again, scouts convert.Kettering applying the pressure now, scouts knock on, we win the scrum, ball through the backs. Scouts attack again, ball through the middle & we get a bit narrow, ball out to the winger who scores in the corner. The boys are not giving up & we attack well, we force scouts to knock on in their 22m. Our team structure is holding together really well, the boys are not giving up. Line out & great maul from us, getting right into them now, they give away a penalty & then get marched back for chatting at the ref. We kick, win another penalty, we kick again & we are on their 5m, a great response from the boys. Scum now & we win that, another penalty & then they are not 10m so another penalty, ball out to the back line but it's not to be, we loose it at a break down. It could have done with a couple more forward phases before coming out to the backs but it's not to be. We are back in our own half now & we win a scrum. Our 9's have been getting scragged all game, this time scouts 9 is behind our 9 at the scrum, not sure how that is on side but we play on. Scouts get a runaway try & convert, final whistle.
Scouts play a very fast game & have well drilled set pieces. We really struggled to get a foot hold in the game but credit to the boys they didn't give up. We never really had a base to play off & from that we were always chasing the game. We had opportunities but just couldn't capitalise on them.
