Oundle U16 V Kettering U16

Last away game of 2021 saw us play a depleted Oundle team. We loaned players for a 14 v 14 game. We told our boys to play hard whatever shirt they were wearing.
First Half:
Oundle come out with real intent, we are caught sleeping & Oundle score the first try, no conversion. We win a penalty & Christian kicks to touch, good ground made. We win the line out & Bryce with a crash ball over the line despite 3 Oundle players trying to hold him up, no conversion. Oundle kick over the top, good catch from Leo at full back. He kicks big & chases his own ball, tackles their receiving full back. Great work. Ben playing for Oundle dodges & weaves, goes to kick but a great tap tackle from Christian. Tye tackling hard on the wing, brings Joe ( Oundle) down & takes the ball from him. Oundle on the attack & their full back looks to be away but Oran with a great tap tackle takes him out. Kettering line out on the half way, through the backs with Sam in support who puts Oran in for the try, great team try. Tom Herbert converts & thats half time.
Second Half:
50/22 kick from Oundle, good hands from Kettering, Tom Herbert last man on the wing, dives for the corner & makes it before he’s taken out. A good wingers try, no conversion. Oundle make a good break, they have an overlap & ball to Tye ( Oundle ) who sprints for the line to score, no conversion. Kettering applying pressure & it’s a scum at about 7m, some good dummy lines run but Oran skips through the centre & under the posts, Tom Herbert Converts. Joe playing in the backs for Kettering makes a good break on the wing, unfortunately his kicking skills don’t match & he chips the ball out. Broken field in the middle & Joe collects the ball & out paces everyone & score for Kettering under the posts, Christian converts. Oundle secure the ball from the kick off & run through the middle to score, oundle convert. Thats the end of the game.
Respect to the Oundle boys who knew they were low on numbers but turned up to play hard, we wish them the very best of luck building their numbers up as they have a core of very good & committed players.
The Kettering boys played hard whatever shirt they were wearing & for that we are proud of you. They put in 100% in the tackles & were totally committed. We were really pleased with their attitude today.
