100% commitment

Following the freak cyclone this morning it was great to see almost everyone make it safely in for the match. MH were a real handful at the end of last season so we were expecting a very competitive game. With 19 players we had a really good tight squad, a bit short on backs but we adapted to suit.
MH started strong but we really did match them. They were well drilled, fast to the breakdown & drove well into contact. We tackled well & competed well. The forwards working super hard today. Really good in the tackle & breakdown. MH scored first but we kept strong & countered well with a try of our own. So the first half it’s really was neck & neck. MH carried on attacking & we ended up playing a lot in our own half. Good defence from us. MH charged a ball down as we try to clear our lines but fumble it over the line, a bit of a let off. We end up conceding a lot of unnecessary penalties which inevitably put us under too much pressure, MH score three more tries. The boys still have plenty of belief & we work through a good number of phases & get a really well worked try. MH score again from the restart. Another good break & they seem sure to score again but Milo sprints from nowhere for a try saving tackle.
Not a win for us but a fantastic effort from the boys, we have a great core of committed players who are giving their all on the pitch week in & week out. They fought for every ball at every breakdown today, dominated the scrums & put their bodies on the line for their team mates. We cannot ask for any more from them on the pitch.
Considering the boys are not training together with any regularity they adapt & play well in the games. The coaches have identified that we need to come together as a squad & train as a committed group. We will be focusing on Thursday nights to really work together as a group, if you can train Tuesdays please do. Please make the effort to train this Thursday & every week going forward. Look out for the email regarding this.
Thanks as always to Tristan for his control of proceedings & special thanks to Michelle for standing in as first aider this week
