KRFC U16 V S&L

It was good be back playing our first home game of the season. With Covid still having an effect along with injuries & general illness we had a slightly depleted squad compared to normal but still managed to field 20 players. Rather than this being a negative it meant that the players available had plenty of game time.
S&L came with a forward dominating game plan whilst we still played with our flair & variation going forward. We had forwards breaking the line & backs playing some lovely flowing rugby. S&L have some big lads but our defence was well organised and effective again. At the first breakdown we were caught on the back foot & penalised for holding on due to being a bit slow in support. What was impressive is that rather than the coaches talking about this at half time the boys saw their mistake, rectified the situation & this didn't happen again. It's great to see the boys taking charge of the game & we could hear them problem solving along the way. They soon worked out S&L's game plan & dealt with it really well. We saw great line breaks & the offloading game was in full effect today. A really impressive whole squad performance today, lovely to see the boys trusting & believing in each other, this really is the key to having a good squad. We saw Dan get a try which was great to see. He works really hard for the team so it was great to see him rewarded for this.
