Andy Swinburne's Match Report:
"Considering the scale and nature of last weeks defeat v Huntingdon there was a 100% improvement this week. The intensity from the first whistle was superb. The forwards where dominant in the line out for most of the match and some of the driving mauls where making 20-30 yards and often only stopped illegally. The backs performed much more accurately than last week, defended well and put together better phases of play. Over all a much improved first half from last week and we where unlucky to be 5:0 down at half time following an interception/knock on which rather gifted Old Scouts the first score of the game.
We switched of a bit in defense early in the second half and allowed the Old Scouts big no. 3 to crash over under the posts and found our selves 0:12 down. From then on the defense was much tighter and after that Kettering dominated possession and territory. The pack were marching up field from most line outs - a special mention to Joseph Daniel-Wileman (playing out of position at hooker - no one would have noticed as he did a fantastic job all game) and Charlie Roberts winning loads of ball in the air at the front of the line out. There was good defense and attack out wide from Cade Greenwood and Owen Griffiths. Kettering continued to play with the higher intensity and Robbie Burrell went over for Oliver Bosworth to convert. Kettering continued to press up field and Matthew English gathered from the base of the ruck and ran through to tie the scores. Both sides had kicking opportunities to win the game, and in the final moments a Kettering counter attack was denied a try from Justin Leung in the final play of the game."
