BRIGHT PERFORMANCE

This Colts fixture between rivals from north and south of the county has thrown up some very close matches over the years and once again the players did not disappoint the one hundred or so spectators that turned out to watch.

Kettering Colts started brightly and dominated the early possession however; against the run of play Towcester Colts broke to score in the corner. Kettering Colts continued to press and after a couple of drives from the forwards close to the line new signing Dominic Hearne powered his way over to bring the score level.

Towcester Colts worked their way back in to the game and after 22 minutes they crossed the line once more (5-12). To their credit Kettering Colts stuck to their game plan and shortly before half-time some skilful handling in the backs created space for Harry Brightwell to burst up the wing to touch down. Brightwell converting his own try (12-12 at half-time).

The second-half was just as close however; midway through the half Connor Featherstone broke from the back of the scrum, drew his opponent and delivered an excellently timed pass to Harry Brightwell who rounded the full-back before touching down under the posts. Once again Brightwell converted his own try.

Towcester Colts threw everything at Kettering Colts but the Waverley Road side defended brilliantly to record an important win.
