The home tie saw only 3 players involved who opposed Rushden in the reverse fixture in November and the lack of cohesion was apparent from the start.
3rd XV Captain Phil Cross said 'despite the guys giving it their all, a lack of playing time together means the understanding and communication required is currently not there. A core is being built but with injuries and work commitments it is proving really difficult this season.'
The Blues 2 unconverted tries both came courtesy of Phil Gellen in a physical game which saw the thirds injuriy woes continue with Damo Adcock leaving the field early with a knee strain and Gadget nursing 2 broken ribs which were not helped by the blindside move off the back of a scrum which saw Gadgets ribs relocated for the second time in 10 mins courtesy of Fletch Junior, a Rushden Flanker and the KRFC physio all laying on top of him. Really....you had to be there! (Sorry Gadge :) )
Once again a brave performance by the Blues but consistency will be the key if we are to be successful next season.
