South Leicester took an early lead with a unconverted try, shortly followed by a penalty kick to make it 8-0. Sadly Kettering’s attitude towards some very suspect calls from the man in the middle made for a tougher half than hoped. With both teams trading penalty kicks south Leicester’s two to Kettering’s one by Matthew Winspear, the blues went into the break 11-3 down. With a Stern but fair talking to from both captains and coach, Kettering came out for the 2nd half looking to make amends. The first points of the half again went to south, with another unconverted try. Kettering’s confidence was growing stronger and stronger as the half went on and Matthew Winspear went over in the corner for the blues first try. South then scored a good team converted try in the corner, This not damping the blue boys spirt David Styles scored a well worked try which he converted. With the game now 23-15 with 5 minutes remain Kettering we’re on the up and piled pressure on south in their own 22 where they gave away 2 kickable penalty’s. With confidence in their ability Kettering decided to take the scrum for both of these which eventually paid off with the ball been spun out wide to Milton Kachecha to score in the corner in the last minute of the game, making the final score 23-20 to South Leicester.
'Man of the Match' went to Luis Santos, he lead from the front with his scrummaging and work rate.
