The build up to this game could not have been any worse, with players dropping out at lunchtime, leaving the side with only 12 players with less than an hour to go to kick off!
Frantic calls were made and with Tim Jones arriving from London at 2.45pm, and Aidan Chapman turning up with 5 minutes to go, the side took to the field with 14.
The Blues began the brightest and scored from a close range driven maul, with the outstanding Terry Grannon seemingly claiming the try, which Tim Jones expertly converted in the difficult windy conditions. At this stage the Blues were dominating proceedings, but then a loose pass saw the Medics intercept and run 70-metres for a try, with the simple conversion being missed to keep the Blues in front.
Despite significant territorial advantage the Blues consistently incurred the wrath of the referee and conceded far too many penalties to enable their dominance to be turned into points.
then, on the stroke of half-time, a fine run from the Medics fly-half saw him score an unconverted try to give the Leicester side the lead.
the 2nd half saw Nick Cleere arrive from watching the latest James Bond movie and make the Blues up to a full 15. Despite this, the only score came from a Jones penalty, and as conditions deteriorated both sides were content to hear the final whistle and share the spoils.
