Despite stating their intentions straight from the kick off it was Kettering who fell behind to a 2nd minute penalty, and then from the resultant kick off, Tim Bayes was yellow carded and the home side reduced to 14.
Undeterred the Blues fought back and Steve Fraher bullocked his way over for the first try on 10 minutes converted by Andy Byrne, for the first of his 8 successful kicks of the afternoon.
Then, on 16 minutes, captain for the day, Tom Bridgeman scored from close range, with Byrne adding the extra's.
The Blues were in dominant form and the visitors had few opportunities to build any pressure, and it was a surprise when Byrne kicked a penalty and then converted a Danny Noble try after a fine handling sequence involving backs and forwards, to give the Blues a commanding 24-3 lead at the break.
The second half saw the Blues continue to dominate proceedings continually pushing the visitors back into their own 22 and then asking questions of the defence at every opportunity.
This paid off as firstly Jordan Butlin scored in support of a Tom Bridgeman break, converted by Andy Byrne and then the pressure told on the Bugbrooke scrum and the referee awarded a penalty try, which Andy Byrne again converted.
Jordan Butlin then crossed for his second try of the half with Byrne converting, before the visitors showed their grit by scoring a try of their own.
The Blues had the final say, with Josh Plowright diving over in the corner and Byrne saved his best kick of the day for last with a superb, touch line conversion in the very last minute.
