The game was preceded by an O2 Touch exhibition game, and then the wonderful sight of a Spitfire and Hurricane flyover, as the club came together to celebrate Help4Heroes day.
The side responded with a great start, and running the ball from deep, James Taylor fed back inside for Joe Daniel to open the scoring on 2 minutes. Daniel converted the try himself and then added a penalty to open up a 10 point lead. The Blues then squandered a couple of great opportunities to extend the lead and were made to pay for it when the visitors scored a close range, unconverted, try on 34 minutes to close the gap to five points.
The Blues hit back almost immediately and Damien Conyard scored the try which Daniel converted to leave the score 17-5 to the Blues at the break.
The first quarter of the 2nd half saw the game become a stalemate as both sides failed to gain the upper hand, until Daniel burst through on the hour to score a fine individual try. then in the 72nd minute another fine handling move was finished off by Joe Newman for the bonus point try before Daniel scored his hat-trick try on 77 minutes which he again converted to finish off another fine personal and team performance.
