The Blues started well and showed their intent with a fine handling move from one end of the field to the other, which was only ended when a Huntingdon player prevented a certain score with a deliberate knock on in front of the Huntingdon posts. For his troubles he received a yellow card and Joe Daniel kicked the penalty.
However, straight from the kick off the Blues were penalised and the scores were levelled with a home side penalty. Again the Blues attacked and a second Daniel penalty restored the lead only for the hosts to respond in kind as the game swung from end to end.
The Blues were starting to stretch the home side and a kick through from Ben Dawson was fielded by Joe Newman who skillfully rounded to full back for the opening try. Daniel, whose place kicking was once again excellent, added the extra's. Huntingdon continued to work hard and were rewarded with a further penalty to leave the score at 13-9 to the Blues at the break.
Turning round with the conditions in their favour, the Blues attacked with real purpose and at times were unstoppable as they ran the home side ragged. Newman crossed for his second try after a 70 metre handling move and James Taylor crossed for a similar score to stretch the lead still further, with Daniel adding the extra's.
A quickly taken penalty and chip from scrum half Tom Bridgeman bounced kindly into his hands and skipper Chris Chapman was in support to score the 4th, bonus point try, which Daniel duly converted to keep up his 100% record on the day.
The home side continued to batter their way forward and eventually were awarded a penalty try which was converted to close the gap. Kettering, fittingly on this occasion, had the last say, when they once again stretched Huntingdon one way and then the other, before replacement wing, Damo Conyard, dived over in the left hand corner. Daniel skillfully completed his nap hand of conversions from wide out on the left to send the Blues contingent off to the ball in fine spirits.
