The Blues came unstuck at Newark after a first half which saw them lead 7-3 until the 35th minute when Josh Block went off with a broken jaw, and then the home side scored 2 tries before the half-time whistle blew after a, somehow, 52 minute half.
The started badly for the Blues as the very first kick-off failed to go 10-metres and from the resulting scrum Newark charged upfield and gained a penalty which was converted to give them a 3 point advantage after less than a minute.
Back came Kettering a Tom Bridgeman fielded a kick, fed Ollie Barnes who burst through the middle to score under the posts with fly-half, Bruce Keir adding the extra's.
The next 30 minutes saw both sides squandering opportunities, before Block's unfortunate injury.
The enforced change saw the home side start the make in-roads into the Blues mid-field and gaps appeared which they fully exploited to take a 13-7 lead into the break.
The game then swung dramatically Newark's way as they scored 2 tries in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half to open up a significant lead.
Blues came back briefly, but were struggling to contain the lively Newark backs. Steve Fraher scored a try to give them some hope, but 2 further tries put paid to the Blues challenge, before George Lyness crossed for the Blues final score.
The home side had the final say with a further score to secure an emphatic win
