The game started with the Blues showing rel intent and they scored what they thought was an excellent try after 2 minutes, but the referee deemed there to hve been a forwarded pass at the end. This seemed to knock their confidence and Market Rasen hit back with a converted try when they exploited Kettering's failure to lick up runners and extended this when they took advantage of a sin-binning for Joe Newman and scored a second converted try.
The Blues hit back and Louis Hackett, on for the injued Andy Byrne, scored an interception try which Joe Daniels converted. The rest of the half belonged to Kettering but they failed to take advantage and somehow went into the break trailing by 7.
The 2nd half began with the Blues again dominating proceedings but missed opportunities cost them dearly when Rasen scored a 3rd try and then sealed the game when they again exploited numbers to score a try wide out on the right.
The Blues stuck to their task and Steve Fraher scored his first try for the club, which Daniels converted, but that was the last score as Rasen held out for a deserved win.
