Perfect underfoot conditions but with a stiff breeze blowing across the pitch favouring neither side, the Blues were swiftly into their stride as after 5 minutes Alex Bayley was in support of a fine break by George Newman to open the scoring and Joe Daniel added the extras. In total control of the game it still took another 10 minutes before Dan Martin scored the second try after a fine catch and drive and even longer for Ryan Conyard to score the next try after more good work from forwards and backs, but the next try and the bonus point followed quickly as young scrum half Tasker Stables scored the try and Daniel converted and with half time approaching it was Daniel who scored the next try to make the half time score Peterborough Lions 0 Kettering Blues 29.
Kettering were soon back into their stride after the break when skipper George Newman went over for a try converted by Daniel and then the floodgates opened as first Josh Cox went over for a deserved try which again Daniel converted and three minutes later it was fifty points as Jordan Butlin went over for a try with the extras again added by Daniel. Zac Bean then opened his account for the Blues with two tries, the first giving the opportunity to see his electric pace for the try, converted by Daniel and then after the Lions scored a consolation try Zac was in support to score the final try right on the whistle. Final score Peterborough Lions 5 Kettering Blues 62
