A totally dominant frirst 40 minutes saw the Blues crush any hopes that their opponents may have had of causing an upset in this one sided game.

The Blues began with real intent and kept the ball for four of the first five minutes, beforethe pressure told and Steve Fraher crashed over for the opening score. 5-0
Again the Blues werekeeping possession and pinning Wellingborough back in their own half. Great retention and re-cycling led to the next score from Josh Plowright on 15 minutes. This time Bruce Keir was successful with the conversion and the Blues led 12-0.
Five minutes later some fine handling and a break by Cameron Sharpe, a late replacement at full-back for Joe Daniel, saw Jordan Butlin cut inside and sprint clear of the Wellingborough cover to cross near the posts. Keir again added the extra's and with a quarter of the game gone the Blues led 19-0.
Wellingborough then had their first spell of possession and pressure and were rewarded with 3 points from the boot of Pete Vickers. 19-3.
The respite was short lived, however, and on 30 minutes further multiple phases and a fine delayed pass from Matt Neild put skipper,George Newman in for the bonus point try. Keir again converting. 26-3.
Newman then added to his try tally with a dot down from a pushover try. Keir's conversion taking the Blues to a 33-3 lead with 5 minutes of the half remaining.
Wellingborough had the last say of the half, with a converted try from a well executed set move. H/T 33-10.
The game was really confirmed as over when on 45 minutes Sharpe burst through from the 22 to score the Blues sixth try. Keir extra'smade the score 40-10 with 35 minutes stillon the clock.
The floodgates, however, failed to open as the game became very scrappy. The Blues cause wasn't helped with 2 yellow cards in the space of a minute, and down to 13 Kettering closed up shop. Despite their numerical dominance Wellingborough failed in their valiant efforts to get back into the game and their was no further additions to the scoreboard until the 70th minute when great hands gave Tom Connolly the room he had been craving, and the young winger took full advantage to brush off two would be tacklers, and race clear from the halfway line for a fine score. Keir added the extras with another conversion. 47-10.
Then, on the final whistle, Connolly burst down the left wing and scored his second try of the day in the corner to finish off a fine performance from the Blues.
