Kettering again came up short in a low scoring game, when, despite dominating much of the game, they fell to their second defeat of the season, losing 12-10 at Peterborough

The game began with the Blues edging the early exchanges, and they should have done better after 2 minutes when a chance went begging down the right hand side of the field. Peterborough were, at this stage, well in the game and also had their moments in a tense first quarter.
The usually formidable boot of Joe Daniel was missing on 20 minutes, when a simple penalty was hooked wide of the posts, as Kettering began to create the best scoring opportunities.
One of these was taken on 25 minutes, when Aaron Kelman broke off the back of a lineout to crash over. Daniels conversion attempt this time went to the right of the posts, and the Blues led 0-5.
Peterborough bounced back, and after soon resolute defence, the Blues let their guard slip and that was all the 'Boro' second row needed to sneak over from the back of a ruck. This try was converted to give the home side a slender 7-5 lead, which was the final score of the half.
The second half was dominated by the visitors, but again chances went begging, and along with some determined defence the score remained the same, until Daniel managed to squeeze over in the left corner. This, much more difficult conversion was unsuccessful, and the Blues led 7-10 going into the final quarter.
Another, relatively simple Kettering penalty kick was missed as the game entered its final stages, and despite pegging the hosts back with kicks, and seemingly in control of proceedings, the Blues failed to take further advantage and they paid the ultimate price when a fine break out from their own 22 saw Peterborough sweep the length of the field before switching play to the right wing. The threat appeared to have been snuffed out when Tom Connolly tackled the winger, but somehow he wriggled free, rounded a despairing tackle attempt from Archie Toseland and then burst through the last attempted tackle to score the decisive unconverted try. 12-10
There was a couple of minutes to play, but Peterborough kept the game in mid-field and celebrated with much joy as the final whistle blew to give them the win.
