Kettering secured a 5 point win at Coalville with a 9 try demolition of a disappointing Leicestershire outfit, whose cause wasn't helped by the early loss of their scrum-half through injury. The Blues took an early lead when they ran back a clearance kick and a fine run by Lewis Hackett resulted in Paul Sumner finishing things off to score the opening try.
It then took Kettering a further 15 minutes to take advantage of the dominance as desperate defence by the home side and poor decision making saw the score-line unchanged until Tom Scarr supported a blindside break and was rewarded with a try, converted by Joe Daniel. The third try followed quickly as Sumner crossed for his second after a fine passage of handling by the backs.
Then with half-time approaching Malcolm Crooks crashed over from close range to score the 4th, bonus point try, which Daniel converted, as the Blues led 24-0 at the break.
It only took 2 minutes of the 2nd half for Crooks to get his 2nd try in support of a break by Rory Keir.
Then the backs took over and Daniel scored and converted his own try. Lewis Hackett then scored followed by a fine solo effort by Matt Nield, before Daniel picked a great line to find a hole in the tiring Coalville defence to score his 2nd try and with the young full-back converting all the last 4 tries ending up with a 22 point personal tally for the game to seal the win.
