Blues turn it around at Scouts

Scouts began with real purpose and took the lead with a converted try, before the Blues struck back and Steve Fraher dotted down from inches out, to close the gap to 7-5.
The game, at this point ebbed and flowed as both sides fought for supremacy. It was much against the run of play, however, when Scouts extended their lead breaking from deep inside their own 22, as the Blues were looking likeliest to score, before inexplicably setting up their defence on the wrong side of a scrum, and the hosts took full advantage to move the ball through a number of pair of hands for an unconverted try. 12-5.
The tide seemed to already be turning as halftime approached, and it took some determined defence from Scout to prevent Kettering from scoring before the break, to leave the score 12-5 at halftime.
With the slope in their favour, Kettering began the second half in dominant form and Matt Neild crossed early for the Blues second try, and with Bruce Keir kicking the extras the scores were tied at 12-12 with 35 minutes to play. Keir kicked well from hand and continually pinned Scouts back in their 22. As the pressure built, the home side conceded penalties and Keir converted one of these for the Blues to lead, 12-15.
Then came the real turning point. The Blues worked an overlap and should have scored themselves, but greedy play saw a great opportunity squandered and then, to make matters worse, Scouts broke out from deep. A desperate chase resulted in Harry Owens making a last ditch tackle five metres from the Blues line. The resultant offload was knocked on and Scouts last chance had gone.
From then on the Blues dominated the game and Ryan Conyard scored the third try which Keir converted to open up a 10 point lead.
As the hosts tired, and the pressure mounted, George Newman burst over from a 5-metre scrum to secure the 4 try bonus point and then as the game drew to a close, a catch and drive lineout was deemed to have been deliberately collapsed and the referee awarded a penalty try to Kettering, to see the score line at the end, Old Scouts 12 - 34 Kettering.
