A tremendously well respected minutes silence, in memory of former captain and president, Duncan Bennie, preceded this 38-7 win for the Blues over a battling Bugbrooke side at Waverley Road on Saturday.

The Blues dominated much of the game, in the early stages, but it was 20 minutes before Bruce Keir dummies his way over for the opening try, which was converted by Joe Daniel.
Bugbrooke were battling hard, but were finding it difficult to make any real headway, and Kettering scored again, when Joe Newman burst through the defence for a fine individual score. Daniels conversion hit the post to leave the score at 12-0 at the break.
Bugbrooke started the 2nd half well and only a try saving tackle from Ryan Conyard prevented the score. Worse was to follow for the visitors as they tried to move the ball wide, when Harry Owens was quick to react and intercept a poor pass to run 80 metres and score under the posts, making Daniels conversion a formality. 19-0.
Newman scored his second try when a Bugbrooke kick was fielded by Daniel, and his counter attack resulted in Jordan Butlin supplying the final pass for Newman to score wide out in the left corner. 24-0
The visitors countered and were eventually rewarded for their efforts with a converted try after good work from their forwards led to a catch and drive score.
The Blues responded almost immediately, with Steve Freeman being driven over for the try, and Daniel adding the extras.
The final score of the day came when Alex Bayley burst through from 25 metres and showed great strength and determination to score near the posts, despite the despairing efforts of three would be tacklers
