With the in-form, Dan Ireland, Josh Cox and DAmo Conyard missing from the previous weeks win against ON's, Tim Bayes came into the second row, the recovered Kev Osborne into the front row "squad" and Harry Luthayi started on the wing after his inpressive performance for the side in the recent game against England Deaf. Aaron Kelman started on the bench, with Archie Toseland moving from second row to blindside wing forward.
The day preceeding the game had seen a significant amount of rainfall, and then a heavy overnight frost. The journey up the M1 saw the rain again start to fall, so it was a real bonus for the side to arrive at Paviors to find the sun shining, and the pitch in fine condition, albeit firm following the previous nights frost.
The Blues made a very positive start, and opened the scoring with George Newman scoring from a pushover try, with Harry Owens converting.
Will Bowley was next to score after a great handling movement saw the ball travel 60 metres up the field and from one side to the other, before the second row dummied his way through to score wide on the left, for an uncoverted try.
The hosts hit back, and scored themselves from a scrum close to the Blues line. The extra's were added and at the break the scoreline was a bit too close for the travelling sides comfort at 12-7.
The Blues defence was tested on several occasions, and again they withstood all the home side could throw at them, before turning defence into attack, and Owens scored the next Blues try after a period of pressure in the Paviors 22. Owens added the eaxtra's to his score and then Steve Fraher crossed from a catch and drive, to secure the bonus point try, which went unconverted, before Harry Luthayi's persistance paid off as a fine chase saw him benefit from a fumble in the home defence, and the winger pounced to score the final try, and round off a fine win for the Blues against a Paviors side who have improved significantly since their visit to Waverley Road earlier in the season.
