With Harry Owens, Josh Plowright, Tom Connolly and Joe Newman all missing from the previous games backs line-up, along with Steve Fraher up front, the Blues were expecting to take some time to get going at the start of this game. With Kev Osborne pulling a calf muscle in the warm up, things looked even more difficult for the visitors.
This wasn't to be, however, as Bruce Keir opened the Blues account early in the game, and then skipper, Tom Bridgeman, crossed for the second try after 5 minutes to set the Blues on their way to a 10 try victory, against a plucky, injury ravaged home side.
George Newman then scored the first of his three tries and the bonus point try was scored just before the break by Jordan Butlin.
The 2nd half began equally well for the Blues as Damo Conyard skill fully held onto an interception pass to sprint clear from 50 metres out to score, and then quickly followed that up by picking up a loose pass and again outpacing the cover defence for his second try of the game.
Not to be outdone, Conyard's brother, Ryan, then crossed out on the left, before 2 more Newman tries and a Dan Ireland score sealed a fine win. Ben Hanger had an indifferent day with the boot, by his standards, but still managed to convert four of the tries to leave the score 58-0 at the final whistle.
