The Blues started with a bang and Joe Newman crossed under the posts for the opening try after only 2 minutes. Bruce Keir added the extras to give the home side an ideal start. The visitors struck back after 10 minutes with a penalty, but the Blues were dominating much of the game and Paviors had few opportunities to add to their tally.
It was, therefore, some surprise that the shoreline then stayed the same for much of the half, until a great counter attack saw Alex Linnell put clear on the right to score unopposed under the posts and then almost immediately from the re-start, Newman scored his second try as the Blues threatened to cut loose. Keir converted both tries to give the home side a 21-3 lead at the break.
The second half saw Paviors spend more time in the Blues 22, but determined defence kept them at bay, and when Kettering had the opportunity they took it to score 2 further tries through Steve Fraher and David Bannister, to seal a fine win.
