The home side took the decision not to play many of their 1st XV and paid the price, as the Blues put out a strong side missing only a handful of the players who had won the last game v Bugbrooke.
The Blues started well and dominated much of the game, only poor handling at crucial times prevented them from taking an early lead. They eventually took the lead when Joe Daniel chased up his own kick and when fumbled by the home full-back, Daniel pounced on the loose ball to kick ahead and score the opening try, which he converted himself.
Josh Plowright was next to score a try, converted by Daniel, who then kicked a penalty to give the Blues a 15 point lead at the break. The 2nd half again saw the Blues on top, although ON's started in a determined fashion and tested the Blues defence, which held firm.
With 15 minutes to go the best passage of play in the game saw Damian Conyard cross in the right-hand corner for an excellent try. ON's came back and scored a consolation try rewarding their determined effort, but the Blues were worthy winners at the end of the game and now play host to Old Scouts in the semi-finals, likely to be played in the New Year.
