Despite a really impressive start the Blues conceded a quick fire brace of tries as a strong Bournville side, fielding a number of new recruits from National 2 side, Stourbridge, took full advantage of any opportunities which came their way. 2 further scores from the visitors before the first break gave the hosts a mountain to climb.
Both sides made changes and the last 2 sessions saw the Blues fight back and score 2 tries to share the spoils with the visitors in these sessions and it was clearly Bournville who were grateful to finish the last session early as the heat and game intensity took its toll on their smaller squad.
A really good workout for many Blues players who hadn't experienced rugby at this level before. Numerous lessons to learn before the season starts in Ernest, but positives to take away as well, in particular the way the squad came back in the latter stages, despite the early set-backs.
