The Blues came up against a strong Scunthorpe side in the first session, and after a very positive start, fell away in the second period as the strength and experience of the National 3 side told. The next game against North Walsham was a much closer affair, with Walsham leading 2 tries to 1 deep into the 2nd period. However, in the last 10 minutes, when the previous game and injuries took their toll, the hosts scored 2 further tries to run out comfortable winners. Despite this the players who attended will have learnt a great deal about what is required to compete at this level, as they continue their preparation for the forthcoming challenge in Midlands 1 East.
This week sees the visit of Midlands 1 West newcomers, Bournville, in the second pre-season game. The visitors will be another stern test for the Blues, having been relegatedd from National 3 Midlands, and keen to make a quick return to that level. Kick off has been changed to 2.00pm.
